Terms of Service

Updated: 2026-10-01

1. Scope

These terms are between you and Wang Xuelin (王雪林), operator of Withword (共话). Read them before using the service. Use indicates acceptance of these terms, but does not replace separate consent required for personal data processing. These terms do not limit rights that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

2. Service

You can import, save and read text on your device, adjust reading appearance, covers, character images and names, and request online analysis after signing in. Conversation mode identifies characters and aliases, extracts dialogue and narration, and structures paragraphs and layout. It does not offer new plots, continuation, adaptation or free-form roleplay. Character perspectives and message bubbles are reading formats, not endorsements by authors or rightsholders.

3. Lawful sources and copyright

Import only works obtained through legitimate, lawful sources where you own the relevant rights, have permission, or have another lawful basis under applicable law. Do not import, process or distribute pirated books, or circumvent DRM, access controls or payment restrictions. Buying or downloading a work does not automatically permit uploading it to a third-party AI service. Before online analysis, ensure its licence or an applicable legal exception permits this processing. Public-domain status varies by jurisdiction. You retain your rights in your content and grant only the technical processing permission necessary to provide the features you request, for the duration needed. You do not grant us rights to publish or sell the work or train our own models with it. Third-party model processing is described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

Do not submit unlawful content, malware, other people’s credentials, confidential information or personal data you are not authorised to process. Respect copyright, privacy and other rights. Do not attack the service, impersonate others or evade usage limits. Copyright complaints should identify the work, your rights, the issue and contact details; we will investigate and act as required by law.

5. Accounts and data

Online analysis requires Sign in with Apple; a custom profile name or photo is not required. Protect your device and Apple account. Books, reading progress and generated reading packages are primarily stored on your device. Optional manual iCloud backup uses the device’s current iCloud account. Online analysis uploads selected chapters and necessary information for temporary processing, not a permanent server library. See the Privacy Policy. Signing out or deleting your Withword account does not automatically erase local books or iCloud backups; delete those separately using the relevant controls.

6. Automated analysis and availability

Models can misidentify speakers, aliases, paragraphs or layout. Results are not statements by the original author or professional legal, medical or other advice. We use reasonable care to maintain the service, but networks, third-party services and maintenance can cause delays or interruptions. Online features have usage and concurrency limits; consult the app for availability. Keep lawful source files and necessary backups. This guidance does not exclude liability imposed on us by law.

7. Age and children

The service is not directed to children. Users below the local age for independently consenting to data processing or entering an agreement should have a parent or guardian assess and supervise use. Do not enable accounts or online analysis where required parental consent has not been obtained. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable age requirement. Contact us if you believe this has occurred.

8. Suspension, termination and liability

You may stop using the service or delete your account in the account page. Serious unlawful activity or abuse may result in necessary, proportionate suspension of online service, with reasons and a contact channel where lawful and safe. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence or anything that applicable law prohibits us from excluding. Statutory consumer remedies, refunds and guarantees remain available.

9. Law and disputes

The laws of the People’s Republic of China govern these terms without affecting mandatory consumer or data protection rights in your habitual place of residence, including rights to seek remedies in local courts or before regulators where applicable. Contact us first if you wish to resolve an issue informally. Unresolved disputes may be brought before a court with lawful jurisdiction. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or waive local statutory protections.

10. Changes and contact

Material changes will be notified in the app or by other appropriate means, with fresh consent where required. Changes do not retroactively remove statutory rights. Operator: Wang Xuelin (王雪林). Email: l_lsnow@sina.com. The Chinese and English versions should be read consistently; translation differences do not reduce mandatory legal rights.
